Flora is a Technical Analyst for the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) portfolio, with experience in research, technical assistance, policy analysis and multi-stakeholder engagement. Her work focuses on generating evidence and delivering high-quality analysis to support evidence-based policy and programming in international development.
Flora currently contributes to the What Works to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls: Impact at Scale (What Works II) programme. As a researcher on the Helpdesk, she produces rapid literature reviews, mappings, reports and country briefs for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). She collaborates across consultancy and research projects, supporting the development of knowledge products and providing technical input on GBV.
Alongside this role, Flora supports cross-portfolio initiatives within What Works II, including projects examining the intersections between GBV and other thematic areas, such as climate and environmental issues, through collaboration with the Climate, Environment and Nature Helpdesk. She also contributes to business development processes, including expressions of interest, bids and research proposals.
Prior to joining Social Development Direct, Flora worked in the Coordination Unit of UN Women’s Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia in Istanbul. There, she contributed to the 2022-2024 Regional Analysis of the UN Country Team System-wide Action Plan for Gender Equality Scorecard and supported regional coordination mechanisms related to gender equality and the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse. She also collaborated with the Women, Peace and Security team on research initiatives and supported the organisation of an event focused on gender-responsive supply chains at the 14th UN Forum on Business and Human Rights. Flora has worked in France with grassroots feminist organisations on research and advocacy addressing technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) and co-wrote a paper on child participation in social inclusion programmes for a French INGO.
She holds a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from Sciences Po’s Paris School of International Affairs, where she gained an Advanced Certification in Gender and trained in Rapid Gender Analysis. Flora studied French and Spanish at the University of Oxford and is currently learning Portuguese and Turkish.
Outside of work, Flora enjoys creative writing, theatre and cinema, and long walks.
