Hiru joined Social Development Direct in January 2020 as part of the Programmes team and has worked across a wide range of thematic areas over many different projects of varying sizes and complexity.
As a Programmes Manager, Hiru oversees the financial and operational delivery of multi‑country programmes, including the Safeguarding Resource and Support Hub (RSH II). She ensures strong financial management, compliance, and effective programme operations in line with donor and organisational standards, leading on programme‑wide financial reporting, forecasting, partner financial management, procurement compliance, and operational systems, and supporting efficient operational delivery across country hubs and partners.
Previously, Hiru worked across several complex programmes, including the Safeguarding Resource and Support Hub (Phase I), the Disability Inclusion Helpdesk under the Disability Inclusive Development programme, and programmes funded through the UK Government’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF), such as the CSSF Global Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) programme and CSSF West Africa. She has also led programme management for initiatives with British International Investment and contributed to programmes with the Asian Development Bank, and is familiar with the programme management systems of other multilateral and private donors.
Before joining SDDirect, Hiru worked for a tax return company as a Finance and Project Officer. She holds a Master’s degree in Project Management with a PRINCE2 Practitioner certificate and a BSc in Computer Science and Information Technology.
