Implementation Guide for the UN Prevention Framework on VAW
SDDirect has been commissioned by UN Women to develop an Implementation Guide on the UN Prevention Framework for Violence against Women (VAW). This involves developing a package of materials to support the implementation of the recently launched RESPECT women framework, working together with UN Women as well as a core advisory group including WHO, UNFPA and the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women.
In line with the UN Prevention Framework, the Implementation Guide will focus on intimate partner violence and non-partner sexual violence, whilst drawing out linkages with other forms of violence against women and girls, recognizing that many women and girls suffer multiple forms of violence throughout their lifecycle.
Our team of VAW specialists are developing a suite of both online and offline materials aimed at policy makers to support national efforts to prevent VAW, through implementing 7 evidence based strategies:
- Respectful relationships
- Empowerment of women
- Services provided
- Poverty reduced
- Environments made safe
- Child and adolescent abuse prevented
- Transform attitudes, beliefs and norms.
The materials include detailed guidance on how to design, implement, adapt and monitor evidence-based programmes, drawing on the latest evidence as well as practitioner based knowledge. The team are also designing and leading a package of regional and country based capacity building workshops to help policy makers to develop national action plans on VAW prevention. The final products will be launched later in 2020 in an accessible, interactive online format.
The programme started in May 2019 and will run until July 2020.
