Climate Justice Blog Series
SDDirect recognises the urgent need to respond to the climate crisis. Climate change is already disproportionately affecting women and socially excluded groups, who have contributed the least to climate change. It threatens to reverse progress made towards development goals and exacerbate existing inequalities.
In the lead up to UNFCCC COP26, SDDirect is launching a Climate Justice Blog series to highlight why gender equality and social inclusion is crucial in action on climate change. The climate crisis has wide ranging effects, impacting diverse areas such as economic empowerment, disability inclusion, girl’s education and peace and security. These blogs draw on our expertise in gender, social inclusion and safeguarding, and that of our partners, to explore what the climate crisis means for our work in development and humanitarian assistance.
We welcome constructive feedback on this blog series and recognise that responding to the climate crisis will require global action and cooperation. We are keen to collaborate with organisations that share our values and our commitment to ensuring no one is left behind as part of the response to the climate crisis.
