Naomi is a Technical Specialist with a particular focus on inclusive peacebuilding and preventing and responding to gender based violence in conflict. She has a strong research background, supporting clients with rapid and detailed reports on issues from increasing the participation of women and youth in the Yemen peace process, to preventing and responding to GBV in Syria. Naomi has also provided technical assistance to clients such as DANIDA, leading the writing and managing the delivery of a guidance note to support the implementation of their National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security, and to the European Investment Bank, supporting the development of their Conflict and Fragility Strategy.
Prior to working with SDDirect, Naomi was based in the Republic of South Sudan, working as a researcher on the DFID-funded Girls’ Education South Sudan programme. She was also a research supervisor on a World Bank-funded biometric payroll census in Lesotho, leading a team of 15 enumerators gathering research in rural areas of the country. While working in South Sudan Naomi also volunteered with Confident Children out of Conflict, supporting a choir for girls who had been separated from their families and were living in residential care.
Naomi holds an MSc from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in Violence, Conflict and Development, for which she was awarded a Distinction and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from The University of Warwick, for which she was awarded first class honours.
