Our Technical Expert, Sophie Stevens, will be speaking at a panel on Women's Participation and Leadership in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Contexts
A specialist in peacebuilding and women's political participation, Sophie will be presenting the findings from our DFID-commissioned research “Involvement of Somali women in leadership positions in government and political structures” (below). In her session, Sophie will summarise the principal enabling and constraining factors to women's participation and leadership in Somalia and Somaliland.
Organised by the Gender and Development Network (GADN), the learning event will take place on June 1st 2017 at ODI. For more information regarding the event, including how to register, please click here.
SDDirect is leading the contract 'Research on involvement of Somali women in leadership positions in government and political structures' in partnership with Forcier Consulting. Comissioned in 2016 by DFID and the East Africa Research Fund (EARF), this study seeks to understand which Somali women are able to participate in decision-making, under what circumstances, and with what impact.
