Improving women’s access to affordable care support: SDDirect presents at the Skoll World Forum
Our Technical Expert, Zahrah Nesbitt-Ahmed, will be speaking at Oxford’s Skoll World Forum
A specialist in the care economy and women’s economic empowerment, Zahrah will be presenting on innovative infrastructure initiatives that improve women’s access to affordable care, and the role this can play in increasing women’s economic opportunities.
At SDDirect, Zahrah has been focusing on the care economy through her work on the DFID-funded Infrastructure and Cities for Economic Development (ICED), currently producing a discussion paper on gender responsive access to goods and services in cities and on urban humanitarian aid and women’s economic empowerment in Nepal.
Zahrah will present at the workshop ‘Hidden barrier, untapped potential? How addressing unpaid care work can be good for women, the economy and the bottom line’, hosted by Oxfam and Unilever in the framework of the Skoll World Forum 2017. The event will take place on 6 April. It will aim to explore how organisations, companies and foundations can create change to address the issues around unpaid care work.
