UNICEF Innocenti and SDDirect release second edition of Adolescence Research Digest
Social Development Direct is delighted to share the second edition of the UNICEF Innocenti Adolescence Research Digest
The quarterly publication is produced by SDDirect and UNICEF’s Office of Research-Innocenti. It summarises the latest research, resources and news on adolescent well-being.
In the July edition, we highlight the results of the ground-breaking Lancet Commission on adolescent health and wellbeing. Two thirds of young people aged 10-24 are growing up in contexts where preventable and treatable health problems like HIV/AIDS, early pregnancy, depression, injury and violence, and access to safe sex, are a daily threat to their well-being and life chances. The Lancet report stresses the detrimental effects of decades of neglect and under-investment in young people and calls for urgent, substantive investment in the largest ever generation of adolescents, now numbering 1.8 billion worldwide.
This Digest also includes a selection of interesting research studies from international peer reviewed journals, evaluation reports, systematic reviews, as well as toolkits, resources, policy news, and conferences.
