Vix Anderton

Head of Project Management

Vix joined SDDirect in October 2015 as the Head of our Project Management Unit.  She leads a team providing project management support to ensure the effective delivery of our contracts.  She also has a key role in supporting our continual drive for improvement.

Vix recently returned from volunteering with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in Bangladesh, where she was a team leader for a youth-focussed volunteer programme promoting livelihoods for marginalised women.  She continues to act as an ambassador for International Citizen Service (ICS), raising awareness of the scheme, passionately advocating for the role of young people in international development.

Previously, Vix served in the Royal Air Force for nearly ten years, specialising in intelligence and risk analysis. She supported operations across the Middle East, North Africa and South-West Asia, advising the most senior UK and coalition personnel.  She has led and managed teams in the UK and on deployed operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Qatar. She now draws on this experience in the set up and management of robust operational procedures in her role at SDDirect where she leads on the full range of operational issues including duty of care, a critical aspect of our international work.

A gender and security expert with particular interest in gender mainstreaming in the military, Vix holds a Masters’ degree from King’s College London and has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Royal United Services Institute and Chatham House.  She has worked with a number of think tanks, military institutions and women’s rights organisations to promote the rights of women and girls in conflict-affected and fragile states.

Outside work, Vix is a yogi-in-progress, regular half-marathon runner and novice climber.  She volunteers with a London-based feminist organisation.  She is also a member of the Rebel Book Club and a travel and lifestyle blogger.
