Director of Programmes
Pallu joined SDDirect in May 2017 as Director of Programmes. Sitting on the board of directors, and part of the Executive Management Group, she is responsible both for the development and management of the new business pipeline and also has a key role in the growth and smooth running of Social Development Direct by overseeing and ensuring delivery of the organisations major programmes.
A successful International Development Professional with over 20 years consultancy expertise in monitoring, evaluation & learning, public sector reform and social development in over 30 countries, she brings her proven track record of leading strategy and direction, winning and managing commercial contracts to SDDirect, As Project Director, she has led research, evaluation and implementation contracts in a diverse range of sectors including violence against women, improving access to justice for vulnerable groups, public sector reform, basic services, security sector, trade and climate change, and in a number of challenging contexts such as Iraq, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Pakistan and Somaliland. She began her development career in the Evaluation Department at DFID, led a successful Governance business at Crown Agents where she successfully championed the growth of Crown Agents’ Governance & Public Expenditure Management Practice, leading a UK-based team plus 20+ project teams in a diverse range of international contexts. and laterally built the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning portfolio at IMC Worldwide where she was involved in Evaluations in Governance, Gender, Access to Justice, climate and resilience. An excellent communicator with proven experience of establishing and maintaining strong relationships with counterparts at all levels of government and with international donors. She has a proven ability to successfully manage international project teams in MEL, governance, social development, public financial management and public sector reform projects, involving a range of technical inputs in complex and challenging environments. As well as Project Director roles, she has been Team Leader on the Research on Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) in South Asia and also on the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning of the International Climate Fund, UK HMG, both during the Inception phases.
Outside of work Pallu supports a charity which supports the education of disposed and endangered children in India. She enjoys travelling, playing tennis, learning Spanish and is also learning to play the guitar (this is taking a lot longer).
