Business Development Manager
Karla is our Business Development Manager. She supports the process of winning new work through leading on the development of high quality technical and commercial tenders, and leads on relationship management with new and existing consultants, partners and clients. Karla coordinates the DFID Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Helpdesk Short Term Country Assignments - which fields individual experts and teams to support DFID country offices on design, implementation, review and evaluation of VAWG programmes.
Karla holds a Masters in International Relations: Global Security and Development. She is a business development professional with nine years’ experience in the international development sector. Prior to joining SDDirect in 2014, she spent three years with Health Partners International (HPI) where she contributed to the successful award of programmes valued at over £6m. She has experience in leading and supporting proposal development for clients including DFID, the EU, the AfDB, the World Bank, USAID and Comic Relief.
Previously Karla worked at the British Red Cross where she was involved in policy and advocacy research for refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. She has held a number of volunteer positions in Ecuador, Cambodia and Ghana. She is also a trained safari guide.
