Senior Technical Specialist
Jenny joined our technical team in 2014, having previously worked for over four years as a freelance consultant in programme design, implementation and M&E for local and international NGOs and UN agencies in Cambodia and Ethiopia. Jenny has a BA in International Development Studies and Chinese from SOAS, and a master’s degree in medical anthropology from the University of Sussex. Jenny brings technical expertise and experience in gender-related issues including sexual and reproductive health, child nutrition, HIV integration and gender-based violence.
Jenny plays a leading role heading up both SDDirect’s social evidence and research and the companies growing health rights portfolio. She has extensive experience managing qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research and evaluation projects. Jenny’s portfolio at SDDirect includes acting Team Leader on the DFID Impact Evaluation of the Madhya Pradesh Safe Cities Initiative, providing overall technical oversight and management of this complex RCT in India. Jenny was also Team Leader on two qualitative studies in 2015: a qualitative study for Plan UK on links between comprehensive sexuality education and gender-based violence, and a qualitative study for DFID’s Nigeria Stability and Conflict Programme on gender sensitivity and social inclusion within youth employment programmes.
Jenny is also a Researcher on the DFID VAWG Helpdesk, for which she produces global evidence reviews and guidance on aspects of gender-based violence; and is a consultant on DFID’s Global What Works to Prevent VAWG Programme, advising on M&E.
