Beatriz joined SDDirect in 2016 as Project Officer to oversee the implementation of the Girls Education Challenge Fund and the Infrastructure and Cities for Economic Development programme. Alongside this she has also been involved with other projects, including the Strengthening Community Lead Accountability to Improve Service Delivery (SABI) in Sierra Leone programme.
Her main responsibilities include contract management, report writing, invoicing clients, partner and consultant liaising as well as being involved with the implementation of an innovative new project and financial system, Kimble.
Prior to joining SDDirect, Beatriz took on a 14 month volunteer programme, where she worked for several NGO’s and NFP’s. This included working as a project coordinator on the Energy and Environment Partnership Programme with Southern and Eastern Africa (EEP) in Mozambique as well as working as a teaching assistant in the country. She also spent time in Angola, where she was involved with supporting and developing new farming techniques for a newly formed company.
In addition, she took on the role of Project Manager on an agriculture programme – Youth Farmers, under the European Agriculture Fund for Rural Development in Portugal – where she was responsible for the development and implementation of the programme. More recently, she has been actively engaged with raising awareness on the importance of recycling in the UK, particularly clothes and shoes, whilst working as a fundraiser for Green World Recycle and Development Aid from People to People.
Beatriz has a degree from the University of Evora in Psychology. She is currently furthering her knowledge on Project Management through a course on Management Accounting with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Alongside this, she has a certificate in Management from the Kaunas University of Technology and a PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner Certificate.
Beatriz enjoys enrolling in online courses, and has so far taken classes on nutrition and wellbeing, fiction writing, English language, astronomy, management and IT, and plans to take on many more. In her spare time, she likes to travel, watch stand-up comedy and go on long walks. She is also an avid reader and enjoys regular exercise.
